Rivaba Jadeja, wife of ace cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, was fielded by the BJP to replace sitting MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja from Jamnagar assembly constituency. Rivaba defeated Congress candidate Bipendrasinh Jadeja, who was backed by Rivaba’s sister-in-law. Karsanbhai Karmur was the AAP candidate for this seat. According to the Election Commission of India, Rivaba received 84,336 votes, while the AAP candidate received 31,671 votes and Congress’ Bipendrasinh Jadeja received 22,822 votes.
The assembly seat is reserved for general candidates and is part of the Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency. Merubha Dharmendrasinh Jadeja of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Jamnagar North seat in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in December 2017.
Rivaba Jadeja received 84,336 votes after 15 rounds of voting while her nearest rival Karshan Karmur of the Aam Aadmi Party received 31,671 votes, according to the Election Commission.
Bipendrasinh Jadeja of the Congress party was seen finishing third with 22,180 votes.
