Prime Minister Narendra Modi voted in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections on Monday and thanked the people for celebrating the festival of democracy with such zeal.
Speaking to journalists, after casting his vote in Ahmedabad’s Nishan Public School in Ranip, the Prime Minister said, “The festival of democracy has been celebrated with great pomp by the people of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. I want to thank the people of the country.”
“ I also want to congratulate the Election Commission for conducting elections peacefully,” PM Modi added.
Earlier the Prime Minister encouraged all voters in Gujarat’s Phase 2 elections, particularly young people and women to turn out in large numbers.
The second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections in 93 seats across 14 districts is underway. In the second phase of the Gujarat elections, 833 candidates from 61 parties will compete for the votes of over 2.51 crore voters.
