5 Arrested In Hyderabad Hostel For Assault And Ragging

A video of a law student being beaten by a group of college students in his hostel room in Hyderabad is going viral on social media. A student is forced to chant a religious slogan and is mercilessly beaten by a group of students in the video. The incident occurred at ICFAI Business School in Dhonthanpally village in Telangana, according to Telangana Police. The victim is a law undergraduate student in her first semester.

According to the video, Himank Bansal, a third-year student at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in Hyderabad, was slapped, kicked, and had his hands twisted. As the accused continued to beat him, he can be heard chanting “Jai Mata Di” and “Allahu Akbar.”

“We want to fix his ideology. We will beat him into coma and he will remember a whole new world,” an accused said. One of them snatched his wallet and told another, “Take all the money you want.”

So far, the Hyderabad Police have apprehended 5 suspects in the case. The remaining seven have fled. The business school has suspended all of them.

The incident occurred on November 1st, after Himank made anti-Muslim comments on social media. According to police, a case was opened after he approached them and filed a complaint alleging physical and sexual assault.

He also claimed in his complaint that the students threatened to beat him to death if he did not remove his trousers.

The business school, in a statement, said it has “zero tolerance towards such undesirable acts”. The institution said, “they had acted with alacrity and taken a decision to suspend all 12 concerned students” involved in the incident.
