The Gujarat Police Department’s recent announcement of a Rs 25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of five top bootleggers in the state is yielding results. The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) led by IG Nirja Gotru arrested one of the five bootleggers, Pintu Patel alias Pintu Bardoli of Surat from a medical store in Dhamroad in Bardoli on Wednesday.
Patel was apprehended after a tip from a person, while his brother Vishwas remains absconding. Patel is the state’s first bootlegger apprehended under the reward policy.
The reward was announced by the state police after they tracked down and apprehended enormous bootlegger Vinod Sindi in Dubai. Sindhi was detained in response to an Interpol Red Corner Notice (RCN). The RCN against Sindhi was the result of Gujarat police efforts.
According to DGP Ashish Bhatia, the person whose tip led to Patel’s arrest will receive Rs 25,000. Bhatia stated that they are now looking to declare awards for several other absconding suspects in collaboration with CID crime and various police ranges.
According to DSP K T Kamaria, Pintu was involved in more than ten offences in Gujarat and used to work with his brother Vishwas Patel, who is also from the Surat district. Vishwas is still at large, and a lookout notice has been issued for him.
