According to police, armed robbers stole cigarettes worth Rs 1.36 crore from a truck on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway early Tuesday morning.
According to Mandvi police station senior inspector Prafulla Wagh, the truck driver was mercilessly beaten up by the six unidentified dacoits.
The truck was travelling from Rabale in Navi Mumbai to Jaipur.
The dacoits in a car rammed into the truck near Sakwar village, beat up the driver, and drove away blindfolded.
They abandoned the truck after emptying the cargo and released the driver near the Charoti toll booth. A further investigation was underway, according to the police official.
