Balasaheb Patil, the superintendent of police for Palghar Rural, gave instructions to representatives from the NHAI, highway maintenance companies, and the Public Works Department during a meeting on Tuesday. He told them to install cat eyes for drivers, delineators, rumblers to limit vehicle speed, and necessary instruction boards on the highway.
He asked them to carry out these measures within the next three weeks.
In the meeting, officials informed that there were 15 black spots on the highway in Palghar district limits.
According to Patil, it has been seen that there are no ambulances available on the roadway to transport injured persons to a hospital. He gave the concerned officials instructions to make sure that there are ambulances available at four different points along the highway.
He also directed them to provide cranes to remove accident-affected vehicles out of the highway lanes.
A fire fighting crew will also be made available on the route, according to Patil.
