Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2022 is being held physically and virtually in the Victorian capital from August 12 to August 30.
After the pandemic, this is the first time it has come with its physical event, since 2020 and 2021 was done virtually
It is one of the biggest Indian film festivals that takes place outside of India and is also the only Indian film festival backed by the Victorian government in Australia.
The event will be hosting some of the big names of Bollywood like Karan Johar, Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Shefali Shah, Vaani Kapoor, to name a few.

Best Actor of the Year – Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor of the Year award for his role as Kapil Dev in the Kabir Khan directorial ’83’ at IIFM
The actor said that ’83’ will always be one of the most cherished films in his filmography. He further mentioned that he will forever cherish the process of making ’83’. The actor has dedicated the honour to every member of 1983 Indian squad.
Best Actor (Female) – Shefali Shah recently won the award for Best Actor (Female) at IFFM 2022. Taking to her social media, Shefali shared a video from the film festival that announced her name as the Best Actor (Female) for Jalsa: The actress was seen going up on the stage for receiving the award in a beautiful saree and gave a humble thankful speech while receiving the award. She further shared her excitement by writing a caption “OMGGGGG OMGGGGG OMGGGGG this is truly a #JALSA”
Best Director: Shoojit Sircar (Sardar Udham) and Aparna Sen (The Rapist)
At the prestigious film festival, Shoojit Sircar won the Best Director for his film ‘Sardar Udham, which starred Vicky Kaushal and Amol Parashar. It released on an OTT platform.
He shared the award with Aparna Sen who won the Best Director award for The Rapist.It is a thought-provoking examination of the anatomy of rape, the psyche of its perpetrators and the trauma experienced in its aftermath. The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Arjun Rampal.
