The official trailer of the second season of the streaming political drama series ‘Maharani’ is finally released.
The series, which stars Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi as the titular character and Sohum Shah in a pivotal role, is inspired by what happened in Bihar in the late 1990s when Lalu Prasad Yadav, upon his arrest on corruption charges, made his homemaker wife Rabri Devi his successor.
Qureshi plays the chief minister, and Shah, her husband.
In the 2.35-minute-long video, actor Huma Qureshi returns as chief minister Rani Bharti of ‘new Bihar’. As violence grips the state, she vows to tackle goons. Maharani 2 will stream from August 25 on SonyLIV.
In the trailer, several incidents take place in the state back to back giving rise to political turmoil. The death of a beauty contestant also shakes up the state. As Naveen Kumar played by Amit Sial tries a new tactic in politics, Huma is faced with opposition.
Season 1 was released in 2021 without any expectations and have received positive response for it’s political drama included in the story. Now the makers are coming back to entertain with another season, with lots of political drama included.
