The Gujarat Department of Woman and Child Development, which aided the Central Government’s Poshan Abhiyan or National Nutrition Mission, has reached new heights with the help of regular modifications for the better health and development of women and children, according to Avantika Darji, Additional Collector and Joint Director of ICDS in the state.
“The Gujarat government, just like the Centre, has launched the National Nutrition Mission across the country. All five lakh beneficiaries are receiving ‘take-home rations,’ which include products for children, adults, girls, and pregnant women,” said Darji.
She also stated that the state government provides 10 kg of milk and groundnut oil to Anganwadi.
Darji mentioned other schemes in Gujarat, “State Minister Manishaben Vakil has launched “Pa Pa Pagli” scheme for Anganwadi. We have converted Anganwadi into a kindergarten with all of the facilities for children, including education, sports, healthcare, etc.”
“We have also launched DBT in order to provide benefits to all beneficiaries digitally. The state government has recently appointed 7,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers,” she added.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries praised the Gujarat government for expanding Anganwadi facilities.
“There has been significant progress in Anganwadis. Previously, children in Anganwadis were only given food, but now their physical and mental development is being prioritized, said Asha, one of the beneficiaries.
