New Covid-19 cases in Gujarat fell below 1,000 on Tuesday, the lowest in almost seven weeks, state health department data shows.
Gujarat reported 998 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, 4% lower than the previous day’s tally of 1,040. The number of cases was also the lowest since December 31 when 654 cases were reported in the state.
Covid-19 cases in Ahmedabad city increased in Ahmedabad city from 341 to 366, while falling marginally to 162 in Vadodara city. All other cities and districts reported fewer than 50 cases. Vadodara rural reported 49 cases, Surat city 38, Gandhinagar city 36, Surat rural 35, while Ahmedabad rural reported 10 cases.
Four districts, viz. Botad, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, and Surendranagar reported zero cases in the last 24 hours, according to the health department’s Covid-19 bulletin.
The pandemic’s death toll rose to 10,838 with 16 more patients passing away in the last 24 hours. Four patients died in Vadodara city, three in Surat rural, two in Ahmedabad city, and one in Vadodara rural, Gandhinagar city, Rajkot city, Morbi, Valsad, Panchmahal, and Devbhoomi Dwarka.
As many as 2,454 patients recovered in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of such patients to 11.95 lakh and boosting the recovery rate to 98.19%. The active caseload in the state was 11,195.
