As Covid-19 cases decline in Gujarat, all government, private, and grant-in-aid schools will reopen for classes 1 to 9 from today, February 7, according to a circular issued by the state government on Saturday.
However, online education will continue, and students will be able to choose between the two systems.
Offline or in-person education for these classes was halted after the infections began to spread rapidly in December 2021.
Education Minister Jitu Vaghani said in a tweet that the decision was taken after the issue was discussed with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and at the state’s core committee amid declining new coronavirus cases.
In the state, no more than 150 people will be permitted to attend social, educational, cultural, religious, or political events. The attendance limit for a funeral or cremation is 100 people.
While a night curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in 27 cities will remain in effect until February 11, hotel food delivery services will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Cinema halls, gymnasiums, water parks, swimming pools, libraries, auditoriums, and other recreational facilities can operate at half capacity.
