Amid rising infections, at least 351 police officers in Ahmedabad city have tested positive for COVID-19 infection, according to senior police officials. As of Sunday, 85 officers and staff members had tested positive for the virus, with the number of positive tests rapidly increasing on Monday.
“A majority of them have mild symptoms and are currently under home isolation,” said Harshad Patel, deputy commissioner of police, Control Room, Ahmedabad City.
He also informed that no one has yet tested positive for the Omicron variant.
Gujarat Police Director General Ashish Bhatia tested positive for Covid-19 last week and is under home isolation. In its place, IPS TS Bisht has been given the charge.
Officers who exhibit any symptoms should undergo an RT-PCR test, according to the department.
The third booster dose will be given to all police and state personnel, including home guards and SRP jawans. “The campaign has started and about 4,000 people have already been vaccinated. All police officers and staff, including home guards and SRP jawans, will receive the third dose shortly,” said DCP Harshad Patel.
