New Covid-19 cases in Gujarat were back over the 10,000-mark on Sunday, while eight more Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus, health department data showed.
The state reported 10,150 Covid-19 cases on Sunday as against 9,177 Covid-19 cases on Saturday, 10,019 cases on Friday, and 11,176 on Thursday, as per the health department’s daily Covid-19 bulletin.
Ahmedabad city reported 3,264 cases today, followed by Surat city with 2,464, and Vadodara city with 1,151 cases. Rajkot city with 378 and Bhavnagar city with 322 reported over 300 cases, while Surat rural (293), Valsad (283), Gandhinagar city (203), and Jamnagar city recorded 202 cases.
Eight Covid-19 related deaths in the state took the overall tally to 10,159. Two deaths were reported in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar cities, and one in Vadodara city and Tapi, as per the bulletin.
The health department said 6,096 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of patients who have recovered to 8,52,471. The overall recovery rate is 92.04%. The active caseload jumped to 63,610 of whom 83 patients are on ventilator, while 63,527 are stable.
More than 1.38 lakh vaccines were administered in the state as of 5:00 pm today, taking the cumulative vaccination coverage to 9.48 crore. More than 66,600 individuals in the age group of 15-18 received the vaccine today to take the vaccination to 21.82 lakh, while just over 14,700 recipients received the precaution dose.
