The number of Covid-19 cases in Gujarat dropped on Friday. A total of 10,019 persons tested positive for the infection in 24 hours ending Friday evening, lower than 11,176 the previous day.
Two patients succumbed to the infection during this period.
Ahmedabad and Surat continued to top the list of cities in terms of daily cases.
Ahmedabad city recorded 3,090 fresh cases while there were 2,986 cases in Surat city. Vadodara city crossed the mark of 1,000, recording 1,274 fresh cases during the day.
Rajkot city reported 296 cases, Surat rural 273, Bhavnagar city 225, Valsad 183, Gandhinagar city 142, Navsari 140, Bharuch 118, Mehsana 104 and Kutch 101. The remaining cities had fewer than 100 cases.
One death each was reported from Valsad and Navsari.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in the state has reached 55,798.
The daily vaccination figure in the state dropped to 38,446. Of these, 7,017 persons received the precaution dose of the vaccine. As many as 14,260, including children aged 15-18, received the first dose, while the remaining got the second dose of the vaccine during the day.
