Gujarat recorded 9,941 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Wednesday evening, as per the data shared by the state health ministry in its daily Covid bulletin.
The death toll rose to 10,137 after 4 patients succumbed to the infection during this period. This is the highest in six-and-a-half months.
Ahmedabad and Surat cities continued to account for majority of the new cases. Ahmedabad city reported 3,843 cases and Surat city 2,505. Together, they have 6,348 cases, or 63.8 per cent of the state’s cases during the day.
Vadodara city reported 776 cases, Rajkot city 319, Surat rural 265, Valsad 218, Bharuch 217, Gandhinagar city 150, Navsari 147, Bhavnagar city 130, Kutch 105 and Morbi 102.
Of the four deaths due to Covid-19 in Gujarat, two were in Surat city and one each in Valsad and Rajkot rural.
The active caseload has crossed 40,000. Currently, Gujarat has 43,726 active cases of Covid-19. As many as 51 patients are on ventilator.
Gujarat did not report any new case of Omicron during the day. The tally stands at 264, of which 238 have been discharged.
A total of 3,02,033 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered on Wednesday, taking the cumulative vaccination in the state to over 9.41 crore.
Over 1.01 lakh persons received the precaution dose, while 46,650 doses were administered to children in the age group of 15-18.
