According to a report, the police filed a FIR at the Nikol police station against Hiralben Dungrani, a 32-year-old woman who lives in Vishwa Residency in the district . Dungrani’s daughter tested covid positive on December 23, according to the police, but her mother still flew her to New Zealand that night.
The incident was reportedly discovered when health officials in Ahmedabad attempted to inspect Dungrani’s home on December 24 but were unable to find them. That’s when the cops were called. “After the child tested positive for coronavirus on December 23 morning, AMC asked her mother Hiral to keep her in quarantine for 14 days,” said Dr Shefali Patel of the Nikol Urban Health Centre, East Zone, AMC. The patient, however, was not found when we arrived at her home on December 24 morning.”
She went on to say that the patient’s maternal grandfather informed them that the patient’s mother and daughter flew to New Zealand on December 23 with Dungrani’s husband.
According to a report, Nikol police station inspector VD Zala said, “We took acknowledgment of the complaint and lodged a FIR against the mother under IPC sections 270 for malignant act likely to spread infection of a disease, 188 for disobedience to a public servant’s order, and Section 3 of the epidemic diseases act for disobedience of an order.” Officials from the AMC have informed us that they will take up the matter with New Zealand authorities.”
The health department has asked the Gujarat government to take the matter to the authorities in New Zealand, according to Deputy Health Officer Dr Ashwin Kharadi.
