A grade 2 girl from Udgam School for Children here tested positive for Covid-19 upon returning from her home country after attending an event. The case has been confirmed by school officials, who have asked students in the child’s class to report their health status. The class 2 girl is one of at least 18 people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Gujarat in the last ten days. Children attended school both online and in person.
Surat city had 9 new cases, four from Ahmedabad, three from Rajkot and two from Vadodara. Two teachers – each from Rajkot and Vadodara – have also tested positive. RR Vyas, DEO of rural Ahmedabad, stated that Udgam School for Children had reported a positive case, and that the school had been told to take precautionary steps. The child had last received offline lessons nine days ago, according to the school’s principal, Manan Choksi.
