Following a recent mid-air crisis involving a parasailing couple, the Gujarat government has ordered the closure of all parasailing activities in tourist areas around the state. After the line of their parachute snapped in Diu, Gujarat’s neighbour, the couple came dangerously close to death.
After the state government issues a new regulations outlining the safety rules for operators, such thrills will be available once more.
The rope suddenly snapped, and the duo from Junagadh fell into the wide sea. Because the pair was wearing life jackets, they were able to survive, and rescuers were able to reach them immediately.
The event, however, triggered concerns about the safety of adrenaline-boosting activities provided to tourists at places like Shivrajpur beach and Saputara hill station.
Purnesh Modi, the state’s tourism minister, has asked the tourism department to issue an order to all district authorities to immediately shut down all parasailing and similar services. “The tourists were from Gujarat,” the minister added, despite the fact that the tragic tragedy occurred in Diu.
“All such services in Gujarat have been subjected to safety audits.” “We learned that operators were operating without any government regulations or necessary safety precautions,” the minister stated. “The state tourist agency will soon establish a safety regulation policy and ask local authorities to conduct safety checks before permitting the operators to offer their services again,” he added.
