Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will roll out the Niramay Gujarat scheme on Friday, under which the state government will undertake health screening of 3 crore persons above the age of 40.
Education minister and state government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani said the CM will launch the Niramay Gujarat scheme from Palanpur at 11:30 am on November 12. The scheme will be rolled out in all 33 districts and eight municipal corporations in the presence of ministers and other dignitaries.
“More than 3 crore people above the age of 40, who account for 40% of the state’s population, will be covered under the preventive healthcare screening scheme,” Vaghani said after the weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The citizens will be screened at primary health centres, community health centres, and hospitals every Friday for non-communicable diseases such as blood pressure, heart ailments, cancer, kidney ailments, diabetes, among others. The citizens will be given a Niramay card containing the relevant health details. A family will save around Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000 by availing healthcare screening under the scheme, he said.
The state government will also hold Atmanirbhar Gram Yatras in the state from November 18 to 20 during which projects worth Rs. 500 crore will be inaugurated or commenced.
In another decision, the state government has decided to rename the labour and employment department as labour, skill and employment department, an official release said.
