The count of Covid-19 cases in Gujarat was in the 40s for the second consecutive day on Thursday, according to health department data.
Forty-two Covid-19 cases were reported in the state a day earlier, which was the highest in four months. Forty cases were reported in the state in the 24 hours ended on Thursday evening, as per the health department’s daily bulletin. The number of active cases is 234, of which seven are on ventilator, and 227 are stable.
From 16, new Covid-19 cases in Ahmedabad city came down to 14, followed by six cases in Vadodara city and four in Surat city. Surat district and Rajkot city reported three cases each, while Junagadh and Valsad two each. One case was reported from Amreli, Gir Somnath, Kheda, Morbi, Navsari, and Surendranagar.
No Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours.
The spike in Covid-19 cases in the last two days comes amid warnings of cases likely to rise after the Diwali break. However, officials said they would keep an eye on the daily graph to ascertain if the spike was temporary or a sustained one.
The health department said 4.57 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the state on Thursday. As per Co-WIN data, just under 4.50 crore people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 2.83 crore have received both doses. In Ahmedabad city, over 27 lakh people have received both doses, while 46.93 lakh have received at least one dose.
