At Ahmedabad airport three passengers from different flights reported tampering with their luggage. Locks of the luggage were broken open in two cases and in a third case the entire luggage was missing.
Professor Rini Balasaria resident of Satellite area landed at Ahmedabad International Airport at 9.30 pm on Tuesday night by a Spice Jet flight from Delhi.
Balasaria told, “Luggage from the conveyor belt rolled in a bit late. I had to wait for my luggage.
Simultaneously, a Delhi-Ahmedabad Indigo flight also landed at the airport. Right at that time, my baggage arrived on the conveyor belt, but the lock on one bag was missing.
Before I could realise what had happened, another passenger who came by the Indigo flight also found the lock on his bag missing.”
Balasaria added, “We contacted the management of the airlines for a complaint, but they discouraged us. Hence, we wrote a complaint in the register of the airlines.”
Another flier, Vedant Relhan of Delhi, said he had come to Ahmedabad with family to meet a relative. They found the lock on one of their bags missing. “But as the airlines dodged our requests about lodging of an official complaint, we recorded the whole 10-minute drama on the mobile phone,” said Relhan.
A similar thing happened with stock broker and Bhavnagar resident, Karan Parekh, who came by Indigo flight. He could not find his luggage at all.
More shock was in store for the three as the police also seemed unobliging and came up with various reasons for not registering an FIR. The airport terminal manager was also allegedly uninterested to listen to their complaints.
