The cases of dengue and chikungunya increasing in the city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has found it appropriate to raise awareness among people through children. Children in the city just got some more homework to do. It is about reducing mosquito breeding.
The AMC has published a booklet titled ‘Guidelines and Prevention for Mosquito-borne Diseases and Homework’.
2.5 lakh booklets distributed to children in private and government schools which provides information about mosquito-borne diseases and will require children to answer 12 questions on the topic.Parents will have to sign the answer sheet and send it to the school.
Main focus of exercise on awareness among children so that they take preventive measures at home. The eight-page booklet lists various steps to be taken to prevent mosquito breeding like keeping the house and surroundings clean, disposal of stagnant water, removing waste etc. Students will have to take a pledge – “Fight against mosquito-related diseases is our collective responsibility.”
