A Zambian national has been arrested from the Ahmedabad airport with 2 kg of cocaine worth Rs6 crore. The arrested man has been identified as John Henchabilla was flying from Dubai to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) got a tip-off about a foreign national carrying the drug. NCB laid a watch and nabbed the Zambian national who had the drugs in his handbag. The cops are trying to find out who supplied the drugs to him and who was to take delivery of the consignment.
Earlier in mid-August, the NCB had arrested a South African national with 4.2 kg of cocaine at the SVPI airport in Ahmedabad. The South African national Derick Pillay (38) had arrived via an international flight from Doha. He had originally boarded the flight from Johannesburg to South Africa. The cocaine was worth Rs20 crore.
Earlier a lookout notice had been issued against him at all airports as the NCB officials had been on his tail for some time.
The consignment had been concealed in protein supplement packets. It was one of the largest seizures done at the airport in the last many years.
