Two family members died and two others were rescued after a car overturned and fell into the Narmada canal in Karjan taluka of Vadodara district late Friday night, police said.
The victims have been identified as Arvind Patanwadia and Hitesh. The accident occurred around 9:30 PM when four family members—brothers Naresh, Bharat, and Arvind, along with their nephew Hitesh—were returning to Diwalipura village after visiting Naresh’s daughter in Sayar village.
According to a media report, Hitesh was driving the car with Arvind in the front passenger seat, while Naresh and Bharat were seated at the back.
As the car approached a turn near Deroli village on the canal road, Hitesh reportedly lost control. The car broke through the boundary wall and plunged into the canal, overturning in the water. While locals rushed to the scene and managed to rescue Naresh and Bharat, Hitesh and Arvind could not be saved.
Karjan police have registered a case of accidental death and are continuing their investigation.
