A man identified as Y. Sudarshan from Bengaluru is on the run after allegedly fleeing from the Hyatt Hotel in Usmanpura, Ahmedabad, without paying a bill of ₹82,787. An FIR has been registered against him at Vadaj police station for cheating and criminal breach of trust.According to a media report, complaint filed by duty manager Huzefa Zakiruddin, Sudarshan checked into Suite Room No. 344 at around 2 am on July 4, using his Aadhaar card and an employee ID from Manipal Hospital. Claiming to be a business traveller on an official visit, he assured hotel staff that the payment would be made either by his office or his father, who he said was arriving in Ahmedabad.During his stay, Sudarshan availed a range of luxury services, including food and beverages worth ₹4,557, a Balinese therapy massage costing ₹8,673, and salon services worth ₹350. On the afternoon of July 5, he informed staff that he was stepping out to withdraw cash from an ATM-but he never returned. A brief WhatsApp message saying he would “be back soon” was the last contact made.Police investigations revealed that this was not Sudarshan’s first such incident. On June 23, he had checked into the ITC Welcome Hotel on Ashram Road, where he also allegedly fled without clearing dues amounting to ₹40,000. The hotel later found that two UPI payments made for massage services during that stay had not been credited to their bank account. The total pending amount at Hyatt, including room charges and other services, stands at 82,787. Authorities suspect the accused may have carried out similar frauds elsewhere and are currently verifying his records in other cities.”From the evidence so far, it appears the stay was premeditated with the intent to cheat. We are coordinating with Bengaluru police and have alerted hotels in the region to be on guard,” said an officer involved in the investigation.Sudarshan has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and a manhunt is underway. Police are also scrutinizing the documents he submitted at the time of check-in to verify their authenticity.
