Gujarat University (GU) is set to begin the admission process for its newly introduced dual degree programmes on July 20. This marks the university’s first implementation of dual-degree courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. For the academic year, GU has shortlisted 22 courses that will be available to students in semesters one through five at the university and its affiliated colleges.
According to a media report, the dual degree option will be available to undergraduate and postgraduate students in arts, commerce, science, and BS programmes. PhD students, however, are not eligible. Under the scheme, students may pursue combinations such as two bachelor’s degrees, a degree with a diploma, or a degree with a certificate course.
Vice-Chancellor Neerja Gupta stated that students can take up two full-time academic programmes in physical mode, provided their class schedules do not overlap. Alternatively, students may opt for one full-time physical course along with another in open or distance learning, or even up to two online programmes. “However, degree or diploma programmes in online mode must be offered by institutions recognised by the UGC or any other competent authority of the Government of India,” she added.
