In another tragic incident of reckless driving in Ahmedabad, a fatal hit-and-run occurred late Sunday night near the Narol Bombay Hotel, close to the BRTS workshop bus stop. A speeding petrol tanker struck a pedestrian and rammed into several vehicles before finally stopping.
According to a media report, the tanker driver was driving at excessive speed when he hit a man sitting on a platform near the PWD slope, opposite Citizen Khanta. The victim sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
The tanker continued its reckless path, crashing into two cars, a two-wheeler, and a pillar at the BRTS bus stop, causing extensive damage.
A complaint was filed at the ‘K’ Division traffic police station, and a case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The complainant, 20-year-old Ehsankhan Raiskhan Pathan, a resident of Danilimda, identified the victim as his father, Raiskhan Pathan (58), who had been sitting near the slope around 10:30 pm on June 30 when the tanker struck him.
The accused driver, Avadheshkumar Ramsumer Dubey (58), a resident of Shahwadi, Narol, has been apprehended. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
