In a Sunday afternoon crackdown, Satellite police detained five individuals—four men and one woman—for allegedly hosting a liquor party at a paying guest flat near Shivranjani crossroads, in violation of Gujarat’s prohibition law.
According to a media report, the incident unfolded around 3:15 pm on June 29, when the city control room received a complaint about a group of youths drinking, creating a ruckus, and using abusive language at Sangath Tower, near Lokmanya Tilak College.
A police patrol team arrived at Flat No. 1001, where they found a gathering in the sitting area. Empty liquor bottles, plastic glasses, and food packets were found at the scene. A search led to the recovery of two sealed vodka bottles, and none of the eight people present had valid liquor permits.
Out of the eight, five were found to be intoxicated, while three claimed they had not consumed alcohol. Officers noted a strong smell of liquor and recorded the statements of those present.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, and further action will be taken following medical reports and forensic analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
