In a daylight robbery near Sarangpur Circle, a 23-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a stick and had his motorcycle forcibly taken by an unidentified attacker. The victim, Rushabh Chauhan, has filed a formal complaint at the Kalupur police station.
According to a media report, the incident took place around 3:30 pm on June 20. Chauhan, a Motera resident and employee at Gayatri Trading Company near Koteshwar Temple, was riding his blue Honda motorcycle when an unknown man suddenly stepped in front of him on the road.
Chauhan said the motorcycle only barely touched the individual, but the man began hurling abuses and grew increasingly aggressive despite Chauhan’s attempts to calm him. The attacker then allegedly struck Chauhan with a stick and forcibly snatched the motorcycle, fleeing the spot immediately.
The stolen two-wheeler, worth about ₹75,000, was under finance from Shriram Finance Ltd. After returning home to collect the registration and insurance papers, Chauhan approached the police to file a complaint.
Initially, the police only accepted an application as Chauhan did not have the required documents. However, once he submitted them, a formal FIR was lodged on June 29 under sections of assault, robbery, and criminal intimidation.
A senior Kalupur police official stated, “The FIR was filed after the victim submitted proper documentation for the vehicle.” An investigation is underway to identify and trace the accused.
