In a significant push to infrastructure and connectivity, Gujarat is set to build two cutting-edge greenfield expressways—the Namo Shakti Expressway and the Somnath-Dwarka Expressway—aimed at drastically reducing travel time across the state and boosting economic growth.
According to a media report, Spanning a total of 1,110 km and passing through 13 districts, these expressways will form a vital part of Gujarat’s enhanced East-West and North-South corridors. Once completed, the travel time from Ahmedabad to Somnath will be reduced to just 4 hours, while the Somnath-Dwarka Expressway alone is expected to cut travel time by 30%.

Namo Shakti Expressway (₹36,120 crore): Will complement the North-South corridor and boost connectivity across Amreli, Botad, Surendranagar, Patan, Banaskantha, and other districts.
All district headquarters along the route will be accessible within an hour, enhancing access to both administrative services and economic hubs.
Economic and Ecological Benefits:
- Strengthens connectivity to Gujarat’s key industrial areas like Sanand, Dholera, Rajkot-Shapar, Porbandar-Kodinar, and Mandal SIR.
- Offers direct, high-speed links to major ports, fuelling trade and industrial growth.
