Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla greeted the world with a heartfelt “Namaskar from space!” during his first message from the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday. Describing the experience as “surreal” and “indescribable,” Shukla said he is still adjusting to life in zero gravity.
“What a ride it was! I’m thrilled to be here with my fellow astronauts,” said Shukla, who is piloting #AxiomMission4. “I’m still getting used to zero gravity — like a baby learning to walk, figuring out how to move and control myself. But I’m enjoying every moment of it.”
Holding a soft toy Swan during the message, Shukla explained, “In Indian culture, the Swan represents wisdom,” adding a personal and cultural touch to his mission update.
His cheerful and inspiring message marks a proud moment for India, as he joins the crew aboard the ISS for the Axiom-4 private space mission.
