A routine school commute turned into a morning scare when a van carrying schoolchildren collided with a car near Babylon Club on the S.P. Ring Road on Tuesday. The accident occurred around 7:30 am and was reported to the police control room at 8:18 am.
According to reports, a private Eco van transporting 10 students from Nirma Vidyavihar was struck by a speeding Hyundai Verna, allegedly driven recklessly by 42-year-old Navinbhai Panchal, a resident of Gota.
Preliminary investigations suggest that negligent and rash driving by Panchal caused the collision, damaging both vehicles. He has been arrested and booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Further inspection revealed that the van driver, 40-year-old Ranjitsinh Pargi of Kalol taluka, Gandhinagar, was carrying 10 children despite holding a permit for only 8. A separate case has been registered against him under the Gujarat Motor Vehicles Act for violating permit conditions. He has also been taken into custody.
no injuries to the children were reported. Police intervention at the scene ensured the situation remained under control.
