In a move aimed at enhancing voter convenience, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has rolled out a new system to expedite the delivery of Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). Under the revised process, voters can expect to receive their voter ID cards within 15 days of updates made to the electoral roll — whether it’s a fresh registration or a change in existing details.
Currently, the delivery timeline for EPICs stands at over a month. With the updated mechanism, the Commission aims to cut delays significantly and bring in greater efficiency.
According to officials, the new system enables real-time monitoring at every step — starting from the generation of the EPIC by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to its final dispatch via the Department of Posts (DoP). The enhanced tracking will help ensure timely delivery and better transparency in the entire process.
