Air India Flight Returns to Hong Kong Mid-Air After Suspected Technical Glitch

An Air India flight en route from Hong Kong to Delhi had to turn back mid-air after the pilot detected a suspected technical issue.

According to media reports, Flight AI315, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, took off from Hong Kong on Monday morning bound for Delhi. However, after detecting a possible technical issue mid-flight, the pilot followed standard safety procedures and decided to return to Hong Kong.

Details of the suspected technical fault have not yet been officially confirmed. The aircraft landed safely back in Hong Kong, and no injuries were reported.

All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the affected aircraft without any injuries.

According to data from flight tracking service Flightradar24, the Air India jet returned to Hong Kong airport approximately 90 minutes after takeoff. As of now, Air India has not released an official statement detailing the nature of the technical issue or providing updates on the flight’s rescheduling.

The recent technical glitch comes just days after a tragic accident involving the same aircraft model. An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the deaths of 279 people. Among the victims were 241 individuals on board—including 230 passengers, two pilots, and ten crew members—and 29 others on the ground, including five MBBS students.

The aircraft reportedly crashed into the campus of a medical college in Ahmedabad’s Meghaninagar area and burst into flames minutes after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The impact triggered a massive fire, reducing the plane to wreckage.

Remarkably, one British national of Indian origin survived the crash and is currently undergoing treatment.
