A 17-year-old boy who filmed the dramatic live visuals of the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad has shared crucial details with the police. The teenager, identified as Rahul (name withheld due to his age), captured the footage just moments after the aircraft plunged and crashed near the BJMC Boys Hostel in Meghaninagar on Thursday.
DCP Ajit Rajian of the Crime Branch clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with the video of the Air India crash. He added that the individual who recorded the footage is cooperating with the police and has shared relevant details.
Rahul, a teenager from Aravalli district, had come to Ahmedabad to buy books and study materials. His parents, who work as daily-wage labourers, are currently living in a rented home in Meghaninagar. Officials said Rahul was on the terrace of their house, located close to the crash site, when the tragic incident unfolded.
The boy started filming as soon as he saw the aircraft flying alarmingly low. Trusting his instinct, he recorded the dramatic moment the plane crashed. The video, which quickly went viral on social media, is now being examined by investigating agencies as key evidence to understand the final moments leading up to the tragedy.
“He is being treated as a witness. There is no question of any legal action against him. His cooperation is helping us understand the visual timeline of the incident,” the officer added.
