Tata Group Announces ₹1 Crore Compensation for Victims of Air India Flight 171 Crash

In a significant gesture of support and solidarity following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad, the Tata Group has announced a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of each victim who lost their life in the accident. The ill-fated flight, which crashed shortly after takeoff, resulted in the deaths of over 200 people and left the nation in shock and mourning.

N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, conveyed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured,” in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).

In addition to the monetary compensation, the Tata Group has pledged to cover all medical expenses of those injured in the crash. The group assured that comprehensive medical care and rehabilitation support will be provided to aid in the recovery of survivors.

The Tata Group has also committed to rebuilding the hostel block of B J Medical College, which was severely damaged in the crash when the aircraft struck the building shortly after losing altitude.

Chandrasekaran further emphasized the group’s commitment to those affected, saying, “We remain steadfast in standing with the affected families and communities during this unimaginable time.”

Air India, operated under the Tata Group, has also set up helplines to assist families of passengers and continues to work closely with authorities as investigations into the crash proceed.
