Planning to fly from Ahmedabad to Delhi between June 15 and September 15? You may face some trouble, as Delhi Airport’s runway maintenance work could lead to the cancellation of four flights on this route for four months.
The main runway (28/10) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will be closed for repairs, affecting around 114 flights daily and rescheduling another 86. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with the airline before traveling.
Earlier in April, work had started on the runway but was stopped midway due to confusion caused by flight delays and cancellations. Now, the repair work will restart from June 15.
Delhi Airport handles about 1,450 flights every day, so this maintenance is expected to mainly affect passengers with connecting flights.
Union Minister Naidu, speaking at the pre-event for the ‘Wings India 2026’ aviation conference, said that the ministry is working with airlines to reduce the impact on flight schedules.
Delhi Airport has four runways: RW 09/27, RW 11R/29L, RW 11L/29R, and RW 28/10. It also has two operational terminals – T1 and T3. Terminal T2 is currently closed for maintenance.
