A woman planned a robbery against her own boyfriend with the help of two others.
Dharmesh Panchal, a carpenter from Chandlodia, went to the Sabarmati Riverfront Walkway with his girlfriend, Priya Datani, around 8 pm on Sunday.
Earlier that evening, Priya had called Dharmesh to her home. From there, they went for dinner in Paldi and then visited the Riverfront.
While they were walking, Dharmesh noticed two men acting suspiciously. Since he was carrying ₹7.45 lakh in cash, he started walking away to avoid them.
Just then, Priya shouted, “He’s running away, take the bag from him!” This made it clear that she was part of the plan.
After Dharmesh filed a complaint, the Riverfront East police arrested Priya and the two men, Rubin and Rishi. Police Inspector T R Gadhvi said that Priya was in financial trouble and knew Dharmesh had a large amount of cash, so she planned the robbery with her friends.
Priya also knew that six months ago, Dharmesh had sold a property in Odhav that was in his mother’s name for ₹22 lakh. He used part of the money to pay off loans and friends, and was left with ₹7.45 lakh, which he kept with him.
Dharmesh had met Priya about a year ago. She lives in Marwadi ni Chali, Madhupura.
