Fees hiked for PG medical courses in pvt collegesGovt quota fees rise by Rs 1-2.5L, mgmt quota sees hike up to Rs 4L
The Fee Committee has increased the fees for postgraduate medical courses (MD-MS) in private medical colleges across the state. This hike will affect students planning to take admission in these courses in the coming academic sessions.
According to the media report, fees for MD-MS (postgraduate medical) courses have gone up:
- Management quota: Increased by ₹3 to ₹4 lakh per year
- Government quota: Increased by about ₹1 to ₹2.5 lakh per year
For example, at NHL Medical College, the lowest fee for a government quota postgraduate seat was ₹7.93 lakh and has now increased to ₹8.88 lakh. The lowest management quota fee there was ₹26.94 lakh, which is now ₹30.17 lakh.
At HM Patel Institute, the highest government quota fee went up from ₹20.28 lakh to ₹21 lakh. At the Surat Municipal Corporation-run Medical College, the highest management quota fee increased from ₹37.15 lakh to ₹41.61 lakh.
High Fees May Leave Seats Empty
The rise in medical course fees has raised worries. Sources say that in recent years, many postgraduate medical seats stayed empty because of high fees. Some of these seats were filled only in the second or third round of admissions.
