Kalupur police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly recording a 17-year-old girl while she was taking a bath at her home in the Sarangpur area of Ahmedabad.
The incident took place on Monday morning at around 11.15 am. According to police reports, the teenager was taking a bath in her bathroom, which had an open roof, when her neighbour, Deepak Kumar Pyarelal Sharma, allegedly climbed up to the roof and recorded a video of her on his mobile phone.
The complainant told the police that she had noticed the accused filming her two days prior to the incident as well. She lives with her family in the same locality and is currently preparing for further studies.
On the day of the incident, she saw Sharma peeping from the roof above while she was bathing. She raised an alarm, and he fled the scene. She immediately informed her relatives about the incident, following which a complaint was lodged with the Kalupur police.
Subsequently, Sharma was arrested from his residence in Sarangpur, and a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
H R Vaghela, Inspector of Kalupur police station, said, “We have arrested the accused in this matter. He works as a tempo driver and lives alone in Ahmedabad, while his family resides in Rajasthan. We are currently attempting to retrieve the evidence in the case.”
The police have assured that all necessary legal steps will be taken as the investigation progresses.
