M Narendra Modi on Monday evening will hold a road show in Ahmedabad City, in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. The event being held between Airport circle and Indira bridge circle, will lead to road closures in Ahmedabad city and impact those commuting between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, as well as on those seeking to fly in and out of the city on May 26
Road closures and alternate routes
A notification regarding wider road restrictions and alternate routes was issued by Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police G S Malik on Saturday.
- The route between the airport to airport circle till Apollo circle will be closed.
– Instead, vehicles going from Indira bridge towards Gandhinagar can go from Nobel Nagar T junction towards Nana Chiloda and onto Apollo circle. Those going from Indira bridge to Dafnala can go from Noble Nagar T junction towards Naroda Patiya and on to FSL crossroads to reach there. Commuters going from Apollo circle to Naroda can turn towards Karai crossroads and on to Nana Chiloda and from there to Naroda.Those going from Apollo circle to Shahibaug can turn towards Tapovan circle onto Prabodhraval circle and Subhash Bridge circle to reach there, the traffic police said.
- The road from Dafnala circle to Airport Circle will be closed for traffic.
– Vehicles going from Dafnala to Gandhinagar can go from Subhash Bridge circle towards Chimanbhai Patel bridge and on to Tapovan circle and onwards to the capital city. Motorists can also proceed to Ghevar circle on to FSL crossroads to Rameshwar, Naroda Patiya and Nana Chiloda.
Commute to and from Gandhinagar
For those using this road to commute between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, the police have suggested alternate routes.
- Use Subhash Bridge to go to Visat and then on towards Tapovan circle.
- From Dafnala, go to Rameshwar, and then on to Naroda Patiya and Nana Chiloda, till Gandhinagar.
Airport access
For those hoping to catch a flight between 6 pm and 9 pm on May 26, the police have asked them to leave two hours earlier than they had already planned, in order to avoid delays. Prospective passengers have been asked to keep their flight tickets handy to show them to police personnel manning checkpoints so that they are allowed to reach the airport.
The road between Dafnala and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport will be a restricted area after 4 pm on May 26. Only those verified vehicles involved in the PM’s roadshow or seeking to access the airport, will be allowed to pass.
Similarly, the road between Indira bridge circle and the airport will also be highly restricted. Citizens can use the road from Hansol circle to go to Pristine hotel and then onwards towards the airport.
Roadshow attendees
Those hoping to view the roadshow must reach the spot and take their places by 5 pm, the traffic police said.
No parking zones
The entire restricted parts of the road and service lanes have been declared no-parking zones after 1 pm on May 26, till the time the roadshow is over and the police open the roads for normal traffic.
Appeal to residents and helpline
The Ahmedabad City police on Saturday appealed to the residents of Hansol, Kotarpur, Nobelnagar, Meghaninagar and Sardarnagar to cooperate with them and not leave their houses with vehicles during the time of the roadshow unless absolutely necessary and to use alternate routes if the need arises.
