Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home state Gujarat on May 26 and 27 — his first trip since Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The visit is set to begin with a grand welcome in Ahmedabad, where preparations are underway for a large-scale roadshow on the evening of May 26.
More than 50,000 BJP workers, along with thousands of residents, are expected to join the celebrations during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. With such a massive turnout, traffic diversions are likely, and security arrangements have been significantly ramped up.
The grand roadshow will cover a 2-km stretch from Airport Circle to Indira Bridge, drawing lakhs of supporters. Officials said the entire route will be adorned with tricolor flags and illuminated with special lighting to create a vibrant, patriotic ambiance.
“This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Gujarat after Operation Sindoor. People are preparing to welcome him in grand fashion,” said Devang Dani, chairman of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Standing Committee.
“Preparations are already underway. Various communities will line the route to greet him.” The city’s BJP unit is pulling out all the stops for the event.
During his Gujarat visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to three key districts—Dahod, Kachchh, and Gandhinagar.
One of the major highlights will be his stop in Dahod, where he will review the progress of a landmark railway project. The initiative, being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, aims to manufacture high-power electric locomotives.
The Dahod factory, with Siemens India as the technology partner, is expected to produce 1,200 advanced 9,000-horsepower electric freight locomotives over the next ten years.
These locomotives are intended to cater to both domestic and global markets, reflecting India’s rising aspirations in the export sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Dahod plant on April 20, 2022.
According to an official statement, the project is estimated to be worth around Rs 26,000 crore.
