Gujarat University is set to start a new hospital with an affiliated medical college, and a new hotel with an affiliated Hotel Management Institute.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting of the Board of Management and Executive Council on Tuesday.
A new medical college and a 300-bed hospital will be established on 25% to 35% of the land near the GMDC ground owned by the university. In-principle approval for this was granted during the meeting.
As a first step, the land will be surveyed, and necessary procedures will be followed to submit a proposal to the government for approval. After obtaining government clearance, a proposal will be submitted to the Medical Commission in the coming years for 100 seats in the college.
An Institute of Hotel Management will be launched alongside the hotel, which will manage and run hotel management courses.
