The Western Railway has sent a proposal to the Railway Board to implement this access control system at major stations Gujarat.
Through this system, only passengers with a confirmed ticket will be allowed to enter the station premises after their ticket is scanned.
The proposal includes Kalupur station in Ahmedabad, along with Asarwa and Sabarmati stations.
Other stations listed are Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Udhna.
Currently, Indian Railways is undertaking redevelopment projects at several stations across the country. The idea is to end the current practice where anyone can freely access station platforms and replace it with an access-controlled system.
