The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday officially announced the venues for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs, with Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium set to host the final on June 3. The same venue will also stage Qualifier 2 on June 1.
Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be held at the newly inaugurated Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, scheduled for May 29 and May 30, respectively.
This announcement follows a brief interruption in the tournament earlier this month due to heightened geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, triggered by the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam. The league resumed on May 17 after a week-long pause, coinciding with a ceasefire agreement between the two nations. While the revised match schedule was released soon after the resumption, details regarding the playoff venues had remained pending until now.
Originally, Eden Gardens in Kolkata was slated to host both the final and Qualifier 2, with Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium assigned for Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator. However, the IPL Governing Council decided to shift the venues, citing adverse weather conditions and logistical challenges.
“The new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters,” the BCCI stated in an official release.
As the league stage winds down, the playoff race is intensifying. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have already secured their spots in the top four. The final spot is being contested by Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
The decisive clash is scheduled for Wednesday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where the home side, led by Hardik Pandya, must win against Delhi Capitals to confirm their playoff berth.
With marquee matchups and world-class venues confirmed, fans can expect high-octane action and edge-of-the-seat drama as the tournament moves into its climactic phase in the 18th edition of the IPL.
