In a major burglary reported in Ahmedabad’s Naranpura area, unidentified individuals broke into a bungalow and made away with gold, silver jewellery, and cash worth over ₹9 lakh during the night between May 17 and 18. A case has been registered by the Naranpura Police, who have begun an investigation into the matter.
The complaint was lodged by Pareshbhai Panjibhai Parmar, 54, a resident of Danilimda and a professional in the airline ticketing industry. The theft occurred at the residence of his relative Harshadarai Solanki, located in Bharat Milap Society, Naranpura. The family had travelled out of town to attend a funeral when the incident took place. The incident came to light around 10.30 am on May 18 when a domestic worker, Shankarbhai Damor, discovered signs of a break-in and informed Harshadarai, who in turn alerted Parmar. Upon arrival at the residence, it was found that the glass window of the bathroom at the rear of the house had been shattered, allowing the intruder(s) entry into the premises.
Inside, several locks were broken, including those on two safes in a ground-floor bedroom and an iron safe located in a gym area on the first floor. A wooden cupboard near the staircase had also been forcibly opened.
The stolen items included gold necklaces, a gold coin, gold rings, a gold nose pin, a gold locket, gold pendants, a silver anklet and other silver jewellery worth approx ₹ 7.5 lakh plus cash worth ₹ 1.50 lakh was stolen. The total value of stolen items has been estimated at ₹9.09 lakh, including the cash.
Parmar stated that the jewellery belonged to various members of the family. Naranpura Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons and confirmed that forensic teams were called to collect evidence from the scene. CCTV footage from the neighbourhood is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
