In a tragic incident in Ahmedabad’s Danilimda area, three workers lost their lives after reportedly falling into a jeans washing tank at a garment manufacturing unit in Khodiyarnagar late Wednesday night.
The victims have been identified as Sunil Rathva, Vishal Thakor, and Prakash Parmar, all aged between 25 and 30.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during the night shift at the unit, where the trio had entered the washing tank for cleaning purposes. However, they reportedly failed to come out and remained inside the tank overnight.
Family members of the victims, who rushed to the LG Hospital in Maninagar upon receiving the distress call, alleged negligence on the part of the factory management, claiming that the workers were left unattended in the hazardous area for hours.
A police team was also deployed at the hospital to manage the situation and speak to the family members, who demanded immediate action against those responsible. Senior officials said the bodies had been sent for post-mortem and that an investigation was underway to ascertain the sequence of events and possible lapses in safety protocols.
“It’s a tragic incident. The workers were between 25 and 30 years old. We are investigating the circumstances—how and why they were inside the tank and whether proper safety measures were in place,” said a police officer.
Police have registered a case of accidental death, and further investigation is underway.
