The National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC), operating under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment since 1997, is providing vital financial assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) across India. This apex corporation offers loans up to ₹50 lakh at concessional interest rates to help Divyangjan pursue self-employment ventures and higher education.
Students with disabilities can avail loans up to ₹50 lakh for professional, educational, and training courses within India and abroad at a nominal interest rate of just 4% per annum. These loans are provided through partner banks including Punjab National Bank, IDBI Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, J&K Bank Ltd., and 17 Regional Rural Banks.
In line with the Government of India’s 5% reservation for PwDs in higher education institutions, NDFDC’s concessional loan scheme aims to empower Divyangjan by making higher studies more accessible. The scheme details are available on the NDFDC website at www.nhfdc.nic.in or via email at nhfdc97@gmail.com.
Authorities have been urged to promote awareness of this education loan scheme among students with disabilities and to consider linking NDFDC’s website on their portals to reach a wider audience. This initiative is expected to greatly support PwDs in achieving academic and professional success.
