Acting on specific intelligence, security forces carried out a joint anti-terror operation on Thursday in the Nader area of Tral, Awantipora. The operation saw coordinated efforts from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
According to a media report, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the operation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “On 15 May 2025, acting on specific intelligence from an agency, a Cordon & Search Operation was initiated in Nader, Tral, Awantipora. When challenged, terrorists opened heavy fire, leading to a fierce gunfight. The operation is ongoing.”
On Tuesday, three terrorists — including a local commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy outfit The Resistance Front (LeT/TRF) — were killed in an encounter in Shopian. The operation, carried out by the Army along with J&K Police and the CRPF, led to the recovery of AK-series rifles, grenades, and a large cache of ammunition.
The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information also confirmed the encounter in Shopian, stating that it was initiated based on intelligence regarding terrorist activity in the Keller Forest area.
India’s ongoing operations follow the success of Operation Sindoor, which carried out targeted strikes that dismantled terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation led to the neutralization of over 100 terror operatives at strategic locations, including Bahawalpur, the stronghold of Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Muridke, a major training hub for Lashkar-e-Taiba.Terror Hideout Busted in Tral as Indian Forces Launch Operation Nader
