Ishani Debnath was in complete disbelief when she saw the results of her class 12 board examination on Tuesday morning, revealing a perfect 100 per cent score. With 500 out of 500 highlighted on her marksheet, the humanities student from DPS Bopal realized her dream of achieving a high percentage had come true.
She is believed to be a CBSE world topper.
“I scored well in class 10, with 99 in science. Everyone expected me to take up science but I had an inclination towards humanities, a decision supported by my parents and teachers alike. I always liked psychology but the subject was not part of my syllabus in class 10 and therefore I decided to take humanities in class 12 and opted for psychology as a subject,” she shared.
Ishani explained that she didn’t follow a strict study routine but instead used audio-visual content along with the NCERT textbooks in class 11 for preparation. In class 12, she began her preparation from day one, made her own notes, didn’t attend any tuition, and relied heavily on the NCERT textbooks. “I also took mock tests, referring to past questions,” she added.
An incredible feat
Ishani now aspires to pursue an honours degree in psychology at one of India’s reputed colleges. If everything goes according to plan, she is also considering taking the civil services examination as her next academic and career step.
DPS Bopal’s Principal, Sabina Sawhney, expressed immense pride in Ishani’s achievement. “We are immensely proud of Ishani’s phenomenal achievement. She has achieved something truly remarkable by scoring a perfect 100 in all subjects, which is unprecedented in humanities stream and makes her a national level achiever. I congratulate Ishani, her family, and her teachers for this accomplishment.”
